Is carbon dating the truth books on radiocarbon dating
Radiocarbon dating is the most reliable and widely used process of absolute dating of Earthly organic material - from things that once lived - but it has some severe limitations.
As the decay rate for each radioactive isotope is known, it is possible to calculate how long the process has been taking place for a given specimen under examination.
By 1960 their work was complete and in December of the same year Libby was presented with the Nobel Prize for Chemistry.
One of the scientists who nominated Libby for the award commented: Libby discovered that the unstable radioactive component of carbon (C14) disintegrated at a predictable level against the stable elements of the carbon composite (C12 and C13).
Sadly, this hybrid, high jacked and half-baked Settled Science has now degenerated into a recursive [incestuous] feedback loop where dendrochronology calibrates Radiocarbon Dating which, in its turn, is used to calibrate dendrochronology.
See: https://malagabay.wordpress.com/2014/05/16/carbon-14-libbys-ring/ Amongst the many issues associated with the Settled Science of radiocarbon dating there is the curious case of Catastrophic Cometary Carbon-14.
Radiocarbon dating, a development in atomic physics, is a case in point.
In truth, the principles of radiocarbon dating are astoundingly simple and readily accessible.
Arguably, the burning up of a cometary debris train in the Earth’s atmosphere would significantly enhance the level of atmospheric Carbon-14.
Carbon-14 is produced in the upper layers of the troposphere and the stratosphere by thermal neutrons absorbed by nitrogen atoms.
This would go some way towards explaining why so many Earth Scientists are gainfully employed chasing their tails.
Thus, the mainstream gained the scientific kudos associated with Radiocarbon Dating whilst [simultaneously] wrestling control of the Settled Science away from Willard Libby by imposing a calibration curve that was approved by the mainstream.
